Are there guidelines when using MICPA Connect?

How do I update my notifications?

  • Go to My Profile in the left menu, then click Update Profile.
  • Your profile settings are at the top, and email preferences are at the bottom.
  • Choose Individual, Daily Digest, or Weekly Digest for Group Discussions and Private Messages. To stop all emails, select Disable All E-mails.

 

How do I join a group?

Click Search in the left menu, then click Find Groups to Join. Choose from the groups listed and click the Request to Join button.

 

How do I start a post?

You can start a post in the following ways:

  • On the homepage or in any group, click post new topic above the discussion area.
  • From any notification email, click the post new discussion button.
  • Send an email to the group (to post in the open forum, use forum@connect.micpa.org)

 

How do I reply to a discussion?

  • Reply to the email notification you received, just like a regular email.
  • From the discussion page on the Connect site, click Reply with Quote, add your comment in the pop-up form and click Post.

 

How do I search for a specific topic or individual?

On the homepage of Connect, use the Search field at the top of the page to search discussions, messages, members and more.

 

How do I update my profile information/image?

Click your name at the top right and choose My Profile from the menu. To update your image, click on the pencil icon next to the image area. Feel free to use any image that you feel represents you to the community.

  

Why am I receiving some notifications but not others?

Your anti-SPAM system is likely blocking some of the messages. Add micpa@micpa.connect.com to your safe senders list to ensure you receive all notifications. This setting varies by email system, so check your system's help documents. 

 

How can I find a member's email address?

For privacy reasons, we are unable to share the email addresses of members. You can, however, send a private message to any member. See the note below about sending private messages.

 

How can I send a private message to an individual?

  • Go to the profile page of the person you want to message (search on the home page or click their name in any Group or notification email). Then click "Message this Person", enter a subject and message body and click Post.
  • Click on your name at the top right and choose My Messages. Click the Compose Message button, search for the addressee, type the message and click Send Message.

 

Who can see what I post to a Group?

All Groups are limited to members or event attendees, so only they can see your posts. Some Groups, like committees, are private - only members of those specific groups can view your messages.

 

What are the Points I see associated with people and Groups?

Points help you see the level of activity in any group and the level of participation for any member. Groups gain points each time there is activity in them and people gain points each time they contribute to a group. Group lists and Member lists can be sorted by Points to see which groups and which people are the most active in the system. See the point rankings here.
